Pavlíček, T., Hamilton, W. D. and Nevo, E. 1994: Genetic variability in cowpea, Vigna unguiculata in Amazonia. Isozyme Bull. 27: 57. |
Genetic variability of Vigna unguiculata was more similar to wild species than to cultivated ones. The gene diversity was He = 0.220(S.E. 0.045); heterozygosity H = 0.140 (S.E. 0.05); locus polymorphism P = 0.60 (60%), and the average number of alleles per locus A = 1.60. The low A can be due to reduced gene flow as was indicated in annual selfing species or it can be also underestimated because of a small analyzed sample.
